Lazawal Ishq is Pakistan’s first dating reality show, streaming exclusively on the digital platform YouTube. Hosted by popular actress Ayesha Omar, the show is filmed in a luxurious villa in Turkey and brings together male and female Pakistani contestants in a unique dating format.
In the show, contestants live under the same roof, interact to form connections, discuss their potential partners with each other, and participate in a variety of fun and challenging activities. This novel approach to dating on Pakistani screens has sparked intense public debate, drawing both criticism and curiosity. Despite the controversy, viewers are tuning in to see the drama, emotions, and dynamics unfold, making Lazawal Ishq one of the most talked-about reality shows in the country.
Recently, Ayesha Omar shared some important insights about the production of Lazawal Ishq. She revealed that the show’s producers are Turkish, but the program is specifically created for Urdu-speaking Pakistani audiences. Addressing concerns about contestant arrangements, she also clarified that female participants have a separate space for sleeping, ensuring privacy and comfort during their stay on the show.
Ayesha Omar recently addressed the controversy surrounding Lazawal Ishq and clarified key details about the show. She wrote,
“Lazawal Ishq isn’t a Pakistani production and wasn’t banned by our courts. It is not a Pakistani show, but it is made for a Pakistani audience, including Urdu-speaking viewers in other countries. It’s an Urdu-language reality show focused on teaching participants how to communicate, build relationships with peers and partners, and possibly find true love—all with consenting adults. The show was never intended for television, and no Pakistani production house was ever involved. It is a Turkish production created by one of the biggest production houses.
For those who haven’t seen the show yet and may have misunderstood, female contestants have their own sleeping dorms and dressing rooms, while male participants have separate spaces as well.”
She also shared screenshots highlighting these clarifications to ensure viewers understand the production setup and safety arrangements for the contestants.
Social media users have been heavily criticizing Ayesha Omar for defending the controversial concept of Lazawal Ishq. Many viewers feel that the show’s format goes against cultural norms. One comment sarcastically said she was defending it “as if it is a religious show,” while another remarked she was speaking “as if it’s a top-notch reality show.”
Fans also directed their frustration at the producers for not involving local talent in Turkey, accusing them of forcefully imposing obscenity on Pakistani culture through the show. Several viewers openly called out Ayesha Omar for supporting what they consider a cheap concept. One fan even wrote, “How desperate is she to promote this cheap show?”
The backlash highlights the strong opinions and divided reactions surrounding Lazawal Ishq, showing how much the show has stirred debate among Pakistani audiences.
